Project: Flat Blade Boffer

Materials:

Tools:

Instructions:

Step 1
1. Draw a template

Step 2
2. Cut out foam & cut core to length

Step 3
3. Tape center piece of foam to core

Step 4
4. Glue the three layers of foam together

Step 5
5. Trim & neaten the foam
The best way to do this is to use a draw cut with a utility knife with a sharp (new!) blade; try to go the entire length of the boffer with a single smooth cut. Minor imperfections will be covered up by the duct tape, but if you go on to make latex weapons getting this step as perfect as possible is important.

Step 6
6. Cover the foam with duct tape

Step 7a
Step 7b
7. Repeat the same process to make a pomel.

8. Wrap the handle in duct tape, leather, or whatever else.

Project: Round Boffer

Materials:

Tools:

Instructions:

Step 1
1. Cut pool noodle and core to length
(2.5" is good for the pomel)

Step 2
2. Round off the ends of the pool noodle

Step 3
3. Cut two pieces of scrap foam and glue them into one end of each piece of pool noodle

Step 4
4. Assemble the pieces
If the core slides in easily, glue it in. If it is a very snug fit, you probably don't have to glue it. If it is very loose, wrap the core with packing tape at regular intervals until it is thick enough to fit snugly.

Step 5
5. Cover the core with one leg of the nylons or tights. Cut to length and tape the end down.
(If the nylons are translucent and the color of the core shows through, use both legs.)

Step 6
6. Cover the pomel with a scrap piece of the same fabric as the rest, or with sports tape or duct tape.

Step 7
7. Wrap the handle with duct tape or sports tape, or else with leather or another material.
